A weekend trek to find peace- Triund Trek

Triund is situated between the Kangra valleys and Dhauladhar mountains. The place is an ideal getaway to the heights of McLeodganj, in Himachal Pradesh. Triund is considerably an easy trek the Himachal range.

Where to start from?

Triund trek is one of the few treks which can be done without a guide and can be undertaken by beginners as well. The starting point of the Triund trek is from Mcleodganj. You can also start this trek from Galu Devi Temple. If you have your own vehicle, you can reach Galu by using Google map. If you don’t have your vehicle, you can either hire a taxi or get on a bus to reach Mcleodganj.

Ideal time for the Triund trek-

For a trekker, anytime of the year is the best time to undertake this trek, but for an ordinary person, The best time for the Triund trek is from March to May. however September to December is also a perfect time to go. If you love rain, then between June to August will be best for you.

Difficulty Level of Triund Trek 

The total distance of the Triund trek is 7 to 9 km. The trek is not difficult at all because beginners will hardly take 4-5 hours to ascend it. Experienced trekkers will hike this trek within 2-3 hours so there is not such any kind of special difficulty. You also need no prior trekking experience to undertake this trek. In monsoon and winter, you might get into some trouble due to heavy snowfall and rainfall but it all will be worth it. The 360-degree view of the Dhauladhar range will let you forget everything which bothers you from your daily life routine. The alluring view from the top will enlighten your spirit and fill you with new energy.

  • Dry clothes and winter clothes or windcheater
  • Thermal inner wear
  • Trek pants. Avoid denim jeans and skin fit clothes
  • Hiking (water resistant) shoes with good ankle support and sneakers- as an extra
  • Eatery supplements (Munching items, protein bar and energy bar)
  • Torch with extra batteries
  • Power bank and portable charger
  • Sleeping bag and tent and mattress
  • Water bottles
  • First aid kit including pain reliever and water purification tablets
  • Camera With extra memory cards and batteries
  • Id proof and other necessary documents
  • sunscreen , cap, monkey cap, sunglasses, raincoat, umbrella, toothbrush, toothpaste, a small bottle of shampoo, hand wipes, face wipes, etc.

Triund is a perfect weekend trek. If you are bored from your city’s hustle- bustle life and want to spend some quality time with yourself and with your friends away from your city, there is no better place to go other than Triund. You can go to Triund anytime of the year. You can do it in snow or no snow, in the rain or no-rain. The place is open all year. The path from base camp to the top of Triund is well defined, safe and structured. Anyone rather it be a first-time trekker nor experienced trekker is allowed here. If you plan your trip to Triund, it is perfect, but do not forget to keep things following things into your mind-

  • Don’t play loud music on the way up there and on the top. Many people do this trek to find peace. Use your headphones, instead of showing others your party-animal side.
  • Do not mess with other travelers and local people.
  • Do not make fun of the local culture and traditions.
  • Harm no plants and animals on your journey.
  • Drink no alcohol. It dehydrates you. Avoid smoking as well.
  • Don’t litter here and there. Keep the place clean and green. Carry the waste material back with you.
