Considering its specs, the Lenovo V15 appears to be a great mid-range laptop at this price. But looks can be deceptive, and that’s why we have reviewed its design, display, performance and functionality.
Design
Lenovo V15 features a clean, professional look with narrower side bezels and a thin, small design. It weighs around 4.6 lbs (2.1 kg) with a profile that is 19.9mm thin. Its body is made of quality plastic material that has a textured finish and gives it a premium look. Although the material may disappoint some customers, this is an area where Lenovo has tried to cut costs.
Surprisingly, its lid is stronger, and you have to use both hands to open it. When you turn the Lenovo V15 upside down, you will find two speaker cut-outs on the left and right sides. Plus, there is a long ventilation grill that goes from one end to the other.
Display
Lenovo V15 has a 15.6-inch wide diagonal display that comes with 1920 х 1080 resolution. At 24-inches, its screen turns into Retina (normal for looking at a laptop) and we were unable to differentiate the separate pixels. The screen offers a 0.18 х 0.18 mm pitch and 142 ppi pixel density with a 16:9 screen ratio.
We tested its display for brightness and the Lenovo V15 delivers 220 nits on average. Whereas, the middle of its screen offers the maximum brightness which is 227 nits.
Keyboard
Lenovo has fitted the spill-resistant keyboard in the V15 laptop. This is a decent keyboard that delivers tactile but quiet feedback, has good key travel and large keycaps. This is a great laptop that gives a premium touch to the laptop. In addition, its arrow keys are well placed and easily approachable. The touchpad is not so good but still better than the previous models.
Connectivity
Lenovo V15 has got enough ports on it that one might need to connect peripherals. Most of the connectivity ports are present on the left side including an HDMI, two USB Type-A 3.1 ports, a power plug and a USB Type-A 2.0. On the right side of the V15, there is a microSD card reader and a 3.5mm headphone jack.
Performance
Lenovo V15 is equipped with an 8th generation quad-core 15 processor that delivers the basic clock speed of 1.6GHz. In addition, the V15 laptop comes with 512GB SSD storage and an 8GB memory. These are powerful components that deliver smooth performance and ensure you get high-speed. We tested the laptop by running heavy software using the maximum CPU capacity.
The V15 showed promising results and delivers smooth performance without overheating. We played the Counter Strike and DOTA 2 games on the laptop and experience no lagging or stuttering. The temperature on its keyboard went on to 41C during full load but we found the Lenovo V15 to be a quiet laptop. The laptop showed promising results when we tested it against the eight extreme conditions.
Verdict
Although the Lenovo V15 doesn’t have the best build quality, it’s a decent business laptop. It performs well under heavy loads and can uptake serious tasks. A spill-resistant keyboard, powerful hardware and adequate price make it an ideal pick among the mid-range business laptops.
